The East Oregonian editors must have really had a bad day back in June of 2015 when this was pointed out to them (after publication)
Yet they owned up to it and even published an editorial about the good and bad of these mistakes... It is a good read.

Does ANYONE employ proof readers? What are the requirements for being an editor?
Quite frankly, I am appalled at the (lack of) quality in today's journalism and editing. This blog will highlight issues I find when looking over the news. I will only post about major on-line publications who (supposedly) employ “qualified” writers and reporters.
For the record, I am NOT a Journalism, English or Mass Media educated person. In fact, in order for me to see an error, it has to be BLATENT!

USA Today needs geography lessons
In an article posted 17 May 2016 USA Today (famous for their "info-graphics") included this graphic about the (illegal) distribution of marijuana from Colorado:
Really?!?!?
For a publisher that claims to report the news of and to the entire USA, they really need to know which states are which.
The article was corrected within a few hours, so thanks to my Senior English teacher for sharing the original graphic!!

PM confuses possession and contraction
One would think that a major, long-running periodical like Popular Mechanics would have the whole "proofing" and "editing" process down to a science after all this time. Yet, apparently their writers and/or editors do not know the difference between "your" and "you're" (see highlighted text in picture below)
My wife looked it over and found some other minor errors in punctuation as well.
Here is the link to the original story, though they MAY correct it by the time you go there.
