Who Proofs?

Does ANYONE employ proof readers? What are the requirements for being an editor?
Quite frankly, I am appalled at the (lack of) quality in today's journalism and editing. This blog will highlight issues I find when looking over the news. I will only post about major on-line publications who (supposedly) employ “qualified” writers and reporters.
For the record, I am NOT a Journalism, English or Mass Media educated person. In fact, in order for me to see an error, it has to be BLATENT!

USA Today needs geography lessons

In an article posted 17 May 2016 USA Today (famous for their "info-graphics") included this graphic about the (illegal) distribution of marijuana from Colorado:

Really?!?!?
For a publisher that claims to report the news of and to the entire USA, they really need to know which states are which.

The article was corrected within a few hours, so thanks to my Senior English teacher for sharing the original graphic!!
